Recording a Meditation Audio Podcast For NHS Employers In Leeds, West Yorkshire

Following on from the meditation class I gave to 20+ staff at the NHS Employers office in Leeds last year, I was invited back to record an audio podcast about meditation. This podcast will be made available to all NHS Employers staff across the country so they can download it onto their mp3 players from iTunes.
In the podcast I talk about the benefits to employers of providing meditation training to their staff. These benefits include:

  • Improved health and wellbeing which naturally will reduce absence through sickness.
  • Reduced workplace stress.
  • Better mental clarity and performance which will improve productivity and also morale.
  • The many personal benefits to those who practice meditation which can include better sleep, less stress, more clarity of thought, reduced anxiety, lower blood pressure, and quicker recovery from illness to name just a few.

A Short Guided Meditation Using Breathing Techniques

As well as discussing the many health and productivity benefits of meditation I provided a short guided meditation introducing an effective breath meditation technique that people can practice whenever they need.
Finally I discussed the practical hints and tips to make meditation more effective and easier such as sitting comfortably and the "when, how and where" to meditate.
I also dispelled some of the myths of meditation, for example that meditation is not about stilling the mind, but rather about becoming more aware of the stillness that is always present and ultimately realising that you are not just your thoughts.

Gemma my host, who was in the room while I recorded the podcast, zoned out completely while I was doing the guided meditate, so that's a good sign! I'm really proud to be supporting the NHS in providing meditation for stress reduction and relaxation in the workplace and it's a real pleasure to work with such a proactive organisation who are willing to invest in the wellbeing of their staff.

Teaching Meditation For Businesses From Personal Experience

Meditation is a great way of naturally combating and preventing the problems associated with stressful corporate work life. I've been teaching now for over 15 years and my background is very much corporate culture having worked for major international companies and being a company director for over 9 years now. NB: Meditation is my passion but I also have a day job as a company director which affords me the financial backing to invest time, skills and resources into helping spread and teach meditation.
My own personal meditation has played a key part in allowing me to cope and thrive within the challenging schedule of modern day business roles, family and life commitments while still being actively spiritual.

Feel free to contact me to find out more about how meditation can help you deal with a hectic work life. It's all about balance.
